Ron Newbery
BIO: I am Ron Newbery, born in upper Westchester county
NY in 1941. Except for a 3 1/2 year stint in Japan and a few
months in Texas and Mississippi, I have lived in NY State my
whole life. I am married and we have one married Son and
one great little Grandson born in Feb 2007. We now reside
in Newburgh NY. My main interests besides building
models is Tournament Fishing. I have fished BASS
tournaments all over NY State, Conn, New Jersey, Penn.,
North Carolina, Georgia and Alabama.
I have a 21 1/2 ft Stratos Bass Boat that I am selling, and
have decided to devote more fishing to smaller waters with a
14 foot Bassboat, that I am currently refurbishing. I have
been building models off and on since the mid to late 1950's.
A 4 year break for the Air force and back to modeling in the
mid 1960's. A few odd jobs, and then I got kind of busy, first
with a long stint as a Sheriff's Crime Scene Investigator, and
after retiring from there I owned a 1 hour photo lab for 15
years. I build a model now and then during this time,
but most were box stock and somewhat of glue bombs.
I sold the lab in 2000 and semi retired, but in 2002
went to work at an accounting firm as both an accountant
and Computer Tech. Maintaining 20 computers for the firm.
This February 2007 I decided to build a model of my first car,
a 1948 Plymouth coupe, but discovered no model was ever
made of it. I then discovered Resin Casting and a 48 coupe,
and that got the old love of models flowing once more. I am
really enjoying detailing model engines and I prefer to make
models of anything pre- mid 1970's.
